Romanian-U.S. Fulbright Commission & EducationUSA at ISD 2018 in Piteşti

On November 27, the Romanian-U.S. Fulbright Commission and the Fulbright Educational Advising Center (FEAC)-EducationUSA checked another city in our fall edition of the International Study Day (ISD) tour, alongside the British Council, Campus France and DAAD, with two presentations in Piteşti, at “Alexandru Odobescu” and “Zinca Golescu” National College.
An overall audience of 130-strong high school students joined us for the two presentations, keen to discover the path to studying in the U.S., as well as Europe. The FEAC-EducationUSA adviser provided them with an overview of the American higher education system, the application process, and forms of financial aid, encouraging them to take advantage of the Fulbright Educational Advising Center’s resources and services. We also took the opportunity to promote the newly launched competition for the 2019 EducationUSA Opportunity Funds program.
The International Study Day project consists of a series of outreach presentations jointly organized by the British Council, Campus France DAAD, and the Romanian-U.S. Fulbright Commission, in various cities throughout the country, targeting the underserved student population.

News from Sînziana Popescu, 2018-2019 Fulbright Student Researcher @UCLA

"During my first two months in Los Angeles I had the privilege to experience firsthand the UCLA core values, namely the commitment to the pursuit of scientific excellence and innovation, as well as its application towards the betterment of societal challenges. As a Fulbright visiting researcher in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, I hope that my research in the field of tissue engineering will one day provide solutions to the biomedical issues I am studying.

Being a Fulbrighter has granted me access to the most incredible network of people, as I had the pleasure to discover during the generous Luncheon hosted by Dr. Amarjit Marwah in his lovely residence in Malibu. This event enabled many of the 2018-2019 Fulbright grantees from all over the world to meet and discuss our cultural backgrounds not just among ourselves but also with the American personalities present at the event. So far my experience in the USA has been amazing and I am confidently looking towards the future."
