“5 Steps to U.S. Study” @FEAC-EducationUSA

Yesterday, September 24, we kicked off our fall series of events at the Fulbright Educational Advising Center-EducationUSA with a presentation laying out the “5 Steps to U.S. Study”. We were delighted to welcome a fresh batch of visitors to our center and have a friendly chat over tea and cookies, acquainting them with the EducationUSA time-tested five-step strategy for preparing a well-targeted and successful application to a study program in the US.
We took this opportunity to tell them more about the wealth of resources awaiting them at FEAC-EducationUSA, encouraging them to take advantage of our services and join us again soon.
Participants, mostly 11th grade high school students, were eager to learn more about US universities, SATs and the application process. Several voiced an interest in joining our Competitive College Club, as well as taking part in the future events we have lined up for this fall. Speaking of which, stay tuned for our October calendar, coming soon!

FEAC-EducationUSA Joins U.S. Embassy @Festivalul Ambasadelor

On September 4 and 5, the Fulbright Educational Advising Center-EducationUSA team was delighted to join our colleagues from the U.S. Embassy in Bucharest at the first time ever edition of Festivalul Ambasadelor “Open Your Culture”, an original “journey” across cultures brought together in a single city, organized by Asociatia Escu.
Visitors to the U.S. Embassy booth had a chance to learn more about various aspects of American life, from U.S. history to popular culture, listen to bluegrass music played on the accordion, as well as sample some traditional American treats. They were also provided with up-to-date information on the Summer Work & Travel program.
We were happy to take part in this cultural feast and answer questions on study opportunities in the U.S., which confirmed, once again, the Romanian public’s fascination with American culture and an interest in the U.S. as a possible study destination.
We can only hope this was merely the first in a series of joint cultural celebrations and we wish to thank our colleagues from the U.S. Embassy for inviting us to join the fun.

The SUSI Program as Seen by Romanian Fellow Iulia Predescu

Iulia Predescu speaks about her experience at Kansas State University, where she participated in the ”Study of the U.S. Institute for European Student Leaders on Environmental Stewardship” (SUSI) program:

"How would I describe my American experience? Challenging, interactive and fun. Thanks to the SUSI program, I spent an unforgettable month, during which I met interesting and inspiring people who taught me how important is to stand up and work hard in order to make a difference. The well-prepared professors, the student mentors and also my outstanding colleagues had a big contribution in my personal and professional development. Being home now, all I have left are the beautiful memories, the strong friendships and also the unique experience and the gained knowledge that I will share with my community so I can make a change."

The Fulbright SIR Program 2016:  Opportunities for Teaching at U.S. Universities and Colleges

The Fulbright Scholar in Residence (SIR) program (http://www.cies.org/sites/default/files/documents/SIR-Flyer-2015-16.pdf) offers opportunities to non-U.S. visiting scholars from different countries, including Romania, to teach at U.S. colleges and universities for one or both semesters of one academic year. The Visiting Scholars in the SIR program are expected to contribute to the internationalization of the programs and campus, assist with the development of curricula and faculty and support initiatives meant to diversify student and faculty experiences.

The SIR program targets U.S. institutions that do not have a strong international component and belong to one of the following categories: historically Black colleges and universities, Hispanic-serving institutions, tribal colleges, community colleges, small liberal-arts institutions.
