The FEAC-EducationUSA Team Delivers Presentations in Iaşi and Timişoara

While attending the fall edition of the Romanian International University Fair/RIUF 2015 in Iaşi and Timişoara, the Fulbright Educational Advising Center/FEAC-EducationUSA team took the opportunity to deliver a series of presentations at the American Corners in the respective cities, as well as within the “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iaşi and the West University of Timişoara.
We were happy to meet with high schoolers at the American Corners within the “Gheorghe Asachi” County Library in Iaşi and, respectively, the Timiş County Library, and tell them more about study opportunities in the US, while encouraging them to take part in the webinars and online workshops we organize on a regular basis to assist them in preparing a strong application.
The two presentations delivered in the universities focused on the two major pathways to U.S. study opportunities: Fulbright grants and independent graduate applications (for degree-seeking applicants). In each of these two major universities, we engaged in a conversation with an audience made up of senior researchers and graduate students, but had an opportunity to connect with undergraduate students as well.

Romanian-U.S. Fulbright Commission & FEAC-EducationUSA at RIUF 2015 in Iaşi and Timişoara

The Romanian-U.S. Fulbright Commission and the Fulbright Educational Advising Center/FEAC-EducationUSA were represented, once again, at the the Romanian International University Fair (RIUF) editions in Iaşi and Timişoara. We took advantage of this opportunity to spread the news about Fulbright grants for Romanian citizens and the services offered by FEAC-EducationUSA, thus reaching out to a wider pool of potential applicants. An average 500 visitors stopped by our booth in Timişoara and Iaşi, eager to learn more about the undergraduate and graduate application process and financial aid opportunities in the United States.
We also delivered a seminar in each of the cities (on October 6 in Iaşi and October 8 in Timişoara), titled “Studii în S.U.A. – prin bursele Fulbright sau cu susţinerea financiară a universităţilor americane”, presenting Fulbright grants, eligibility criteria and the application process, as well as the path to applying to financial aid granted directly by U.S. universities. We had a full house for each seminar and several of the audience voiced a definite interest in applying to a study program in the US.

FEAC Participates in SRT Fair for Undergraduate Studies - Fall Edition

On Wednesday, October 7th, the Fulbright Educational Advising Center/FEAC-Education USA took part in the international education fair organized by Student Recruitment Tours (STR) in a central location in Bucharest. The SRT fair is an annual event designed for the high school students and teachers interested to find out more about undergraduate study opportunities abroad.
The high-schoolers, teachers and instructors who visited our booth received general information on the process of application to US universities and colleges, as well as on the main steps to follow for an effective application. They also learned about the benefits of the American undergraduate education and the main differences between the Romanian/European and the US application process for undergraduate studies.
The SRT fair was also a good opportunity for our staff to inform the visitors on the on-site and online services and resources offered by the FEAC-Education USA center.

Romanian – U.S. Fulbright Commission & FEAC-EducationUSA at RIUF 2015 Fall Edition in Bucharest

On October 3 and 4, the Romanian-U.S. Fulbright Commission and FEAC-EducationUSA took part in the Bucharest fall edition of the most prominent educational fair in Eastern Europe, the Romanian International University Fair 2015 (RIUF).
Continuing a long tradition of strategic partnership with the Romanian International University Fair, the Romanian-U.S. Fulbright Commission and its EducationUSA-affiliated advising center were once again present at this year’s fall edition of RIUF. Information on the Fulbright program and the path to studying in the U.S. was provided at the Fulbright-EducationUSA booth and during a presentation on U.S. study opportunities for both undergrads and grads.
For the Bucharest seminar we were also joined by a special guest, Ms. Lindsay Whitehead, vice-consul, U.S. Embassy in Bucharest, who graciously agreed to share up-to-date information on student visas.
The two-day event proved successful, with over 5,000 visitors for the first day of the fair alone. High school students, as well as fresh graduates, who stopped by our booth were excited to learn more about opportunities for study in the US, financial aid, as well as the wide range of free services and activities the Fulbright Educational  Advising Center-EducationUSA offers, in order to assist them in the application process.
On October 6 and 8, the Fulbright Commission and FEAC-EducationUSA will also be present at the RIUF events in Iaşi and Timişoara.

“World Literature: Made in America”

This special-focus issue of American Book Review addresses in the words of its guest editor, Professor Christian Moraru, a defining development in contemporary, especially 21st-century American and other literatures and cultures: the “worlding” of the aesthetic imaginary. As the contributors point out with reference to recent titles and developments in fiction, theory, and criticism, American writers see themselves, more substantially than ever before in the history of U. S. literature, with the wider world. They are so insistent and so insightful in their worldly reiterations of Americanness and in their American inscriptions of the world that critics are already talking about new “genres” such as the global, transnational, or planetary novel.
