Fulbright ETA Media Literacy Seminar in Bulgaria, Nov 1-4

Fulbright ETA Media Literacy Seminar in Bulgaria, Nov 1-4

Earlier this month (November 1-4), our Fulbright ETAs participated in a region wide seminar on Media Literacy held in Sofia, Bulgaria. The conference featured a welcome reception at the U.S. Ambassador's residence, presentations on how to respond to misleading media, workshops on how to address such issues within and beyond a classroom setting, and much more. The participants also took a Bulgarian folk dancing class, watched a fire walking show, and indulged in several delicious, traditional Bulgarian dinners. On the final morning of the conference, they had the option of taking a walking tour of Sofia, or making bread at the Sofia Bread House.

Some of our ETAs stayed in Sofia for several more days after the conference to continue exploring Sofia. ETA Natalie Davis, based in Timisoara, was invited to attend and assist a fellow Bulgarian ETA's English classes. Overall, our ETAs had a wonderful time and are excited about the newly formed friendships and future collaborations with the other Fulbrighters from the region.

A big "Thank you" to our colleagues from Fulbright Bulgaria for organizing the seminar!
