On May 10th, Fulbright ETA Courtney-Sophia Henry visited the University of Craiova, where she participated in the 20th Anniversary edition of the Ateliere Studențești de Traducere (Franceză, Engleză). Her talk was titled "The role of language in negotiating cultural identity." Attendees were treated to a historical perspective on indigenous language in the United States, and a look at what efforts are being made by Native American communities to revitalize their ancestral languages to ensure they survive in the 21st century and beyond. She also visited the American Corner for the presentation of awards to Romanian students for their efforts in translation and creative writing.
