The American English Club at Lucian Blaga University of Sibiu (ULBS), run by Fulbright ETA Matthew Chernick, is a weekly activity that meets at the Faculty of Letters and Arts. Drawing students from across the university and Sibiu community, the club aims to be a relaxed, informal, and enjoyable way for students of all levels to work on their English language skills.

On January 16th, 2018, the club welcomed its first guest speaker, Fulbright ETA Courtney-Sophia Henry, who presented a talk entitled “Beyond Sailor Jerry: Tattoo and Body Modification in Contemporary American Culture.” The talk was informative and deeply engaged the attending students. During the visit, time was also spent networking with the ULBS Anglo-American and German Studies faculty for the benefit of the Fulbright Program, American, and the Romanian academic communities. The Club hopes for other visits from Fulbrighters in the future!
