Proposal Accepted for UNCITRAL Congress in Vienna Summer 2017

Dr. Samuel Bufford proposal (written by him with some help from other International Insolvency Institute (III) members) for a study by the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) on the intersection of international insolvency law and international arbitration has been approved by UNCITRAL as a topic to be discussed at its Congress next summer in Vienna.
UNCITRAL only holds a Congress about once a decade to discuss future work that it should undertake. It conducts its work through six working groups. The relevant working groups for this topic are Working Group II on arbitration law and Working Group V on insolvency law.
Dr. Samuel Bufford currently teaches Bankruptcy Law at the University of Bucharest, using for his Romanian students interactive teaching methods, such as the ones aimed at developing the students’ strategic abilities to negotiate insolvancy cases.
