Fulbright Alumnus Publishes Book on Chinese Language

Dinu Luca, Fulbright alumnus and Professor at National Taiwan Normal University, Graduate Institute of European Cultures and Tourism, has published the book titled The Chinese Language in European Texts: The Early Period at the prestigious Palgrave Publishing House (https://www.amazon.com/Chinese-Language-European-Texts-Literature/dp/1137512253).

Dr. Luca started his exploration of this topic during the time of his Fulbright fellowship in 2009, when he carried out research at Yale University, enabling him to gain access to a wealth of primary sources and lesser-known texts.

The book charts the emergence of the European interest in the Chinese language up to the year 1615, meticulously examining travel accounts and early linguistic studies provided by medieval travelers, Renaissance scientists as well as missionaries and merchants.
