News about Fulbright Alumna Camelia Maianu

Camelia Maianu emigrated from Romania with her family in 1979, and returned to Romania as a Fulbright Research Scholar in 1999-2000, remaining for another 2 years to work with institutionalized and HIV+ children. In the U.S. she has worked as a caseworker for mentally ill children and adolescents, a mental health counselor, a research coordinator, and a GED Instructor at the Cook County Jail in Chicago.
As a trainer of the Circle of Security International, Early Intervention Program for Parents & Children, Camelia Maianu has just returned for a workshop in Bucharest and will return for another event in Petrosani, taking place in June.
Camelia Maianu has a Master of Science in Developmental Psychology from the University of Utah and 16 years of college teaching experience. She is currently Associate Professor of Developmental Psychology at Harrisburg Area Community College, where she has received the President’s Award for Excellence. She teaches a yearly course, Child Development in Context, which provides a study abroad experience to Romania for first generation college students.
