News from Romanian Fulbright Scholar Constantina Alina Hossu

"The Fulbright scholarship was a great opportunity to work with some of my most cited researchers. Thanks to it I got the chance to conduct my research in a research environment at the highest standards, specifically the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
During my stay in the U.S, I conducted research on the collaborative efforts undertaken in case studies of environmental conflicts from the U.S. and Romania. I looked over a wide range of such available cases that can match with the Romanian ones so that I can compare and contrast them. In my search for cases I met leading experts in the field as well as well-known authors and researchers and I had the opportunity to frequently exchange ideas with them. During my stay I attended some public workshops about how to enhance public understanding of the health risks associated with climate change by engaging the participants in a role play simulation game. I also ‘played’ a role in this game before it was publicly held and it was a great experience.
I also participated to several social and cultural gatherings, including a welcoming reception for visiting Fulbrighters and Fulbright alumni at Northeastern University, Boston, as well as two excursions organized by the International Center of Worcester: a fall foliage excursion in New England area and a trip to Salem city (photo). This was a great opportunity to meet other Fulbright Fellows together with their families. Moreover, my husband came with me during my Fulbright scholarship. I thank the Fulbright Commission for providing the opportunity for my husband to travel with me.
The time when I was in the U.S. as a Fulbright Scholar was the most wonderful time of the year, September through December, when I enjoyed unique American holidays, such as Halloween and Thanksgiving Day. These holidays were a great time to spend with American friends, eating delicious food, and enjoying the nature.
I am grateful to the Fulbright Commission for this scholarship because I got the chance to develop opportunities for further research collaborations and made friends all over the world."
