Dr Michael S. Jones, visiting Fulbright scholar at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Bucharest (http://filosofie.unibuc.ro/), took part in a two-day colloquium on the theme of “Global Justice” on May 26th and 27th. Dr Thomas Pogge of Yale University, who has spent most of his career working on issues of global justice, was the keynote speaker, delivering an address on “Human Rights and Human Responsibilities.” Dr Jones spoke on “Racism at Home and Abroad: Thoughts from a Christian Ethicist.” Among the many others on the program were Dr. Romulus Brâncoveanu, dean of the Faculty of Philosophy, Ovidiu Caraiani from the Polytechnical University of Bucharest, and numerous other Bucharest philosophers. The colloquium was organized and sponsored by the Faculty of Philosophy and the papers presented will be published in the December issue of Public Reason (http://www.publicreason.ro/home), an open-access scholarly journal published biannually by the Center for the Study of Retionality and Beliefs (CSRC) (http://csrc.ro/home).
