FEAC-EducationUSA Advisee Ana Fota Makes Debut as Staff Writer at “Fordham Observer”
We’re proud to report that former FEAC-EducationUSA advisee Ana Fota, currently a freshman at Fordham University, has made her official debut as a staff writer at the university’s student newspaper, The Observer.
After a stint as a contributing writer, Ana recently published her first article as a staff writer, titled “Deciding on Majors: Passion Versus Profit”. Through interviews with her peers, as well as with Fordham University staff, Ana set out to answer a question ever more poignant in today’s economy: should passion or profit weigh more when choosing one’s career path?
Ana’s well-documented article will certainly be of interest to students, as well as prospective applicants to universities in the U.S., who find themselves torn between pursuits they are passionate about and majors proven to be more lucrative.
Despite the wide payment gap reported between STEM majors and those who choose arts or social work, most of her interviewees seem to agree that, while pay is definitely an important factor, it shouldn’t weigh more than passionate commitment to a particular field or choosing a type of work that is rewarding in itself.
Founded in 1981, The Observer is the award-winning student newspaper of Fordham University. Based at Fordham University’s Lincoln Center Campus in Manhattan, The Observer’s circulation also reaches Fordham’s Rose Hill Campus in the Bronx, making it available to all the students in the University’s undergraduate colleges and graduate schools.
