Fulbright Alumna Simina Mistreanu Gives Exclusive on “Opportunities in American Newsrooms and Campuses” @FEAC-EducationUSA
On Tuesday, March 24, 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., the Fulbright Educational Advising Center-EducationUSA hosted a special presentation titled “Romanian Citizen, U.S. Journalist: Opportunities in American Newsrooms and Campuses”, given by Fulbright Alumna Simina Mistreanu, a journalist with eight years’ experience in the field, in Romania and the U.S. alike.
Simina kindly agreed to talk about her experience as a Junior Fulbright grantee and M.A. student at the world-prestigious Missouri School of Journalism and her time working for American newspapers The Oregonian, Columbia Missourian and The Wichita Eagle.
The participants, both prospective undergraduate and graduate applicants, had a chance to learn more about narrative journalism, the path to getting an internship, the importance of building a strong portfolio, as well as the American education system in general, including the manifold opportunities it affords students keen to put their skills to the test in a real-life setting.
The presentation concluded with a Q&A session, during which Simina was happy to provide participants with details and valuable information on internships and financial aid opportunities, the Fulbright prestige factor, and the application process in general.
