Workshop on Essay Writing - March 3

The personal statement is an essential component of your college application. A good essay can set your application apart from others and convince admission officers you are a good fit for the program.

On Tuesday, March 3, from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m., the Romanian-U.S. Fulbright Commission and FEAC-EducationUSA will host the workshop titled “From the Personal Story to the Application Essay”.

Participants will learn how to use their personal stories to create a compelling and honest essay. They will read texts written by Romanian students, who were admitted at top schools in the U.S, analyze different types of structures and pick up tips on writing and storytelling.

Reserve a spot by calling 021 231 90 15 or by sending an email to feac@fulbright.ro  by February 27. Participation is on a first come, first served basis. Due to limited space only 15 participants per session may be accepted.

The workshop will be led by Simina Mistreanu, a journalist with eight years of experience in Romania and the United States. Simina was a Junior Fulbright grantee at the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2011-2012. She graduated with a Master’s degree in journalism and worked for the American newspapers The Oregonian, Columbia Missourian and The Wichita Eagle. In Romania, she is an associated editor at the independent magazine Decât o Revistă.
