Romanian Fulbright Alumnus Daniel Sandu, together with Cătălin Augustin Stoica and Radu Umbreş, is the co-author of a study entitled “Romanian Youth: concerns, aspirations, attitudes and life style” carried out by the Center for Urban and Regional Sociology for Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Romania (FES). The study is a nationally representative sociological research on the Romanian youth aged 15-29, aiming to fill an information gap by answering questions such as: what are the main preoccupations of the youth? To what extent do they differ from their parents’ generation? And if the young people are the future, what are their life chances to build the future they are dreaming of? What is their economic situation, what kind of jobs do they get and how satisfied are they by what they get? How optimistic are they and how can they influence the future if something goes wrong? Daniel Sandu was a Fulbright grantee in 2010-2011 at the University of Cincinnati, Ohio, in the field of Political Science. Last year, he was also selected as IRM (Independent Reporting Mechanism) National Researcher for the Open Government Partnership (OGP), an international platform for domestic reformers committed to making their governments more open, accountable, and responsive to citizens. The IRM involves hiring independent experts to author progress reports on implementation of each country’s OGP action plan.
