U.S. Fulbright Grantee’s Project on Quality Criteria in Teacher Education

Friday, December 5, 2014, Luisa-Maria Rosu presented her Fulbright project “Investigations of Quality Criteria in Teacher Education programs” to the faculty members in the department of the Psychology and Educational Studies at the University of Bucharest. The following up conversations specifically focused on the espoused values in the implicit and explicit quality criteria used by educational researchers in Romania. The discussion of both USA and Romania educational contexts illustrated how initiating conversations about representations of quality criteria, particularly to identify criteria for judging the quality of teacher education programs and practices in both countries are critical to expose the narratives of power and enforce the role higher education has in promoting necessary social transformations and change.
Dr. Luisa-Maria Rosu, from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, is currently involved in a research and teaching project at the University of Bucharest, in which she is closely collaborating with Dr. Catalina Ulrich, Romanian Fulbright Alumna.
