A Lasting Romanian-U.S. Philosophy and Religions Studies Project

On November 26th the Journal for the Study of Religions and Ideologies (www.JSRI.ro) held its annual International Awards Ceremony to recognize outstanding contributions to the journal during 2014. JSRI was founded in 2002 by Drs. Sandu and Mihaela Frunza of Babeș-Bolyai University and a Fulbright scholar, Michael S. Jones, who was teaching and researching at Babeș-Bolyai. Since that time the journal has flourished and is now ranked as the top journal in Eastern Europe in the fields of philosophy and religions studies (http://sciri.wordpress.com/2014/11/15/clasamente-si-statistici-pentru-journal-for-the-study-of-religions-and-ideologies-si-un-nou-numar/). In 2007-08 Dr. Sandu Frunza was a visiting Fulbright scholar at the Elie Wiesel Institute for Judaic Studies, Boston University. Dr. Jones, who is now associate professor of philosophy and theology at Liberty University, is currently a visiting Fulbright scholar at the University of Bucharest. He joined the Frunzas and their team in Cluj for the awards ceremony and also spoke to Dr. Mihaela Frunza’s ethics class on teaching ethics in a religiously-oriented American university.
