U.S. Alumni Fair in Bucharest

On Friday, November 21st, during the International Education Week, the Romanian-U.S. Fulbright Commission, together with EducationUSA, the U.S. Embassy in Bucharest and “Ion Mincu” University of Architecture, organized the U.S. Alumni Fair, a unique event, held for the first time ever in Romania.
24 alumni of various American universities – members of the U.S. embassy staff and Fulbright grantees – came together as representatives of their alma maters and spoke to over 400 visitors, acting as their guides on an exploration of the American college experience. During the 3-hour event, the high school and college students visiting the fair, together with their teachers and parents, had the opportunity to interact with the American alumni and to get more information on the free-of-charge services and resources offered by the Fulbright Educational Advising Center and the EducationUSA network.
Due to the support of the Ministry of National Education, which helped us promote the event, apart from students of main Bucharest high schools, the fair was also attended by groups of students, accompanied by their teachers, from other counties and cities, such as Constanta, Arges, Ilfov and Giurgiu.

The visitors were welcomed by Chargé d’Affairs Dean Thompson, who delivered the first opening speech, followed by Prof. Zeno Bogdănescu, Rector of the “Ion Mincu” University of Architecture and Prof. Rodica Mihăilă, the executive director of the Romanian-U.S. Fulbright Commission.
A big “Thank You” goes to all those who made the event possible and, above all, to the U.S. Alumni who supported our initiative and graciously represented their alma maters!
