Promoting US Study Opportunities in Constanta

The presentation entitled “Study and Research Opportunities for Students and Academics” designed for the students and academics of Ovidius University of Constanta took place on Friday, October 10, as part of the agenda offered by the biennial RAAS – Fulbright Conference. Corina Danaila, Romanian Program Coordinator and part-time EducationUSA adviser, provided information to an active audience interested to receive specific details on graduate and postgraduate study and research programs in the US. The students learned about the two directions they can choose in order to pursue graduate studies in the U.S. – applying for a Fulbright Student Award or directly to programs with funding from US universities. The academics received details on the ongoing Fulbright Senior Award competition for visiting scholars which is open until November 10. It was also an occasion for the participants to learn more about the online and direct resources and services provided by the Fulbright Educational Advising Center, which is part of Education USA network and offers guidance to high school students, undergraduates and graduates planning to study in the U.S.

On Friday, October 10, the students of the National College “Mircea cel Batran” from Constanta had the chance to find out more on US study opportunities at undergraduate level. The presentation addressed topics concerning the holistic application process and the ways in which the Fulbright/EducationUSA advising team can assist prospective applicants to apply to U.S. colleges and universities. On the same day, the students of the National College “Constantin Bratescu” of Constanta attended an information session about studying in the U.S. and learned about the benefits brought by the experience of an international education, with a focus on the American higher education perspective. The participants did not miss the occasion to ask practical questions about the admission process and about life as a student on a US university campus. We would like to thank Mrs. Bianca Matei, teacher of English and Chair of the English Department, National College “Mircea cel Batran” and Ms. Carmen Florescu, teacher of English, National College “Constantin Bratescu” of Constanta, for their efforts and dedication put into the organization of these two events. We hope to extend our cooperation and look forward to our next meeting in Constanta.
