Making the Fulbright Student Application: Tips and Suggestions


Students intending to apply to the Fulbright Student Award had a chance to clarify their application questions at the webinar carried out on the Watchitoo platform on April 10.

Felix Zaharia, Fulbright Alumnus (Harvard University) put emphasis on the importance of the essays in terms of structure, approach and style. He recommended the participants to make their essays targeted and organized.

Ana Sherrod, US Fulbright grantee (Pepperdine University) came up with several examples and tips as regards crafting high-quality essay(s): addressing a specific idea such as - a personally relevant story or a life turning point, including a unique perspective or identifying the personal contribution to the chosen field of study, paying attention to the logical flow of thoughts. In addition, Anna offered advice concerning the letters of reference and finding the most suitable recommenders.

Corina Danaila, Romanian Program Coordinator made a short presentation, restating the main steps of the application process and putting accent on the application components as well. She also encouraged the people to make the most of the online instructions of the application and also make time to explore the current resources on the Fulbright Commission website – the FAQ section, in particular. The seminar ended with a Q&A session which offered the participants the opportunity to receive instant answers and explanations to their specific questions.
